Every Tauranga suburb asks something different

Tauranga is not one type of section. The older suburbs closer to the harbour, including Otumoetai, Matua and Judea, tend to be flat, established, and full of mature trees and neighbouring rooflines that shape where a crane can stand. The southern growth areas like Ohauiti, Welcome Bay and Pyes Pā are the opposite problem: newer, but on clay and contour where levels and retaining drive the design.

We have installed pools across both. The site visit is where it gets decided, because the answer to "will a pool fit here" is almost never about the size of the lawn.

Clay ground and sloping sections

Much of southern Tauranga sits on clay. Clay holds water, moves with the seasons, and needs the excavation and base prepared with that in mind. It is entirely workable, and most of the city's pools sit in it, but it is a reason to have someone look at the ground before a shape is chosen.

Slope is the other one. A section that falls away is not a barrier to a pool; it changes the retaining, the levels around the pool and where the barrier can run. Getting that resolved at design stage is what stops it becoming an expensive surprise once the digger is on site.

Crane access over an established home

A fibreglass shell arrives whole and is lifted into place in a single lift. In an established suburb the questions are where the truck and crane can set up, what is overhead, and whether the neighbours' trees or the power lines on the street are in the way.

None of these are unusual and almost all of them have answers. We work the lift out before you commit to anything, so nobody discovers a problem on delivery day.

Which pools suit Tauranga sections

On the larger flat sections, the family models with a splash deck, The Acclaim and The Absolute, earn their space. On a narrow suburban back yard, The Esprit or The Harmony fit where a bigger shell will not. In a courtyard or a small city section, The Fiji Plunge and The Olympus give you somewhere to cool off without eating the whole lawn.

The right answer depends on how you actually plan to use it. Someone swimming lengths before work wants a different shape from a family who want somewhere for the kids and their friends all summer.
